my {current} skincare routine

Flair To Remember

I thought I would share my current skincare routine {aka. putting into practice what I've learned from Zoe Foster's Amazing Face!} Don't be fooled, all of the below takes mere MOMENTS to do in my daily life, I can't spare much more than that, running around after the little man! Also, all products are available at your local Priceline & are very budget friendly!

Flair To Remember

// MORNING //

• Wash face with A'kin 'Rose & Geranium Cleanser & Toner'
~ this a lovely, light, creamy cleanser, it smells beautiful & it's fabulous to wash off roship oil/cream that has been on my face overnight.

• Apply Garnier 'Miracle Skin Perfector'
~ this smells delicious & is my best skincare multi-tasker {moisturiser/tint/illluminator/sunscreen extravaganza}

// MAKE UP //

• I will do a separate post on my current make up routine in the very near future. Keep those eyes peeled!

Flair To Remember

// NIGHT //

• Wash face with Dove 'Cleanser & Toner In One'
~ I've used this fab 2 in 1 since it used to be Ponds & it's still my fave cleanser. It's light & gentle, yet still removes make up & is a toner as well. I love me a multitasking product!

• Every few days apply Olay 'Thermal Skin Polisher'
~ I just purchased this as part of an at-home-facial I wanted to do before my sister's wedding & Zoe mentions many times about preferring chemical exfoliants to granuale based exfoliants in Amazing Face. This has AHA's & is Olay, which I think I have some strange sense of trust in, since my beautiful mother used Oil of Ulan/Olay since I was a little girl watching her get ready. I like my nostalgic brand loyalty though as this lead me to a winner ~ this stuff is amazing!

• At least once a week, apply Sukin 'Purifying Facial Masque'
~ This is a fantastic face mask that uses Kaolin clay which is excellent for extracting grime & it leaves your pores/skin feeling very fresh.

Flair To Remember

• Every night apply She 'Anti-Aging Rosehip Oil'
~ I've been using rosehip oil on my face at night for years now. This would be my holy grail out of the lot of my skincare routine. I've tried many brands, but this is my favourite as it's a combination product + the smell is divine. I think I could whittle my skincare routine down to a cleanser & this if need be. Along with taking my flaxseed oil regularly.

• After rosehip oil, apply Palmers 'Night Renewal Cream'
~ I wondered about needed a night cream/moisturiser for years & Amazing Face convinced me of it's purpose, to lock in your serum/oil so that it can do it's work overnight & to rehydrate your skin after a long day of work/make-up wearing/general wear + tear. Zoe mentions looking for retinol in your night cream & I found this one for a bargain price. I'm liking it so far, but not a big fan of the smell. Might try an Olay one when this is finished.

Flair To Remember

// BODY //

• I alternate between body butters/moisturisers morning & night, depending on levels of hydration in my skin. I received these Eco Pure products in a gift pack for Christmas & I am loving them!

• My self tanner of choice is Monne 'Express Tan Serum'
~ This tan is green based + absolutely amazing. I apply when I feel like I need a bit of extra colour. It lasts quite a few days. I'd recommend wearing disposable gloves when applying.

Flair To Remember

// WORTH NOTING //

• Leave a minute between applying different products to skin, even when in a rush, to let them do their thang!
• Illuminator is your friend for fresh, younger looking, glowy skin.
• Multi-tasking products are A-OK!
• I probably need to wear more sunscreen than I currently do.
• Pretty please drink MUCHOS amounts of water when indulging in alcohol.
• Try not to look up at the hot flowing water when washing face in shower. Bad habit, apparently. Real life is not a TV commercial.
• Be gentle when applying products to the face. It is delicate.
• Flaxseed oil is fantastic for my skin, which can be dry & also helps with my eczema.
• I'd highly recommend The Body Shop's 'Hemp Hand Protector' if you suffer from eczema like me, it is incredible for healing very quickly!

// RESEARCH + EXPERIMENT //

• What to do about pigmentation. Gosh it's annoying me since pregnancy!!
• Apparently Fraxel treatments are expensive but can help with pigmentation. Look into.
• Research about chemicals in sunscreen.

I hope you enjoyed this little look into my current skincare routine & thoughts. I really love skincare & can happily spend my spare time reading Primped & wandering my local Priceline! Do you have any fabulous skincare secrets to share?

Thanks for the great tips! Just wondering what type of skin you have? I have quite oily skin, although it's very up & down at the moment due to pregnancy :) I have thought about using rose hip oil but am worried about break outs!
On a side note, I have been following your blog for a few months now & your pictures always bring a smile to my face! I am currently doing "project life" which is similar to your documenting delight, I love documenting my pregnancy & you are giving me many wonderful ideas for when bubs comes along!
Keep up the great work :)

Love this! Will definitely be trying out some of these products. My skin care routine is all over the place at the moment!

Have actually wondered about your haircare routine as well... But have never thought to ask until now. I think we have quite similar hair types and your hair always looks so amazing and healthy!

Hi Donna, I have normal/sensitive skin ~ can get shiny, can get dry. Generally fairly normal, but I can react to chemicals in products as I have quite sensitive skin. My skin went all over the shop during pregnancy too! Apparently people avoid oil with oily skin, but I have heard it can be good! Perhaps try a few drops at night time only & see how it goes? I find it excellent! And it is meant to be handy with evening out skin tone/pigmentation so here's hoping!
I would love to see your project!! Do you have a blog? All the best for your pregnancy lovely!!!

Gidget ~ YAY!! So glad I could help! It seems Dove continued on with Ponds products with not much change at all. Their tinted moisturiser used to be a fave & the Dove one is exactly it. Hope you've gotten a new bottle & are loving it!!

jme ~ excellent, let me know how you go!! I'll work on a hair care post for the very near future!! I've got thick/coarse hair which can dry out, but have a few tricks that seem to tame the mop!! :)

alittlelettuceleaf ~ THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I often check her blog but I missed this!! Legend!!

That seems pretty good. And you made a good point: for many women, it's very useful to have cosmetic care products that can be applied quickly. It's good to have an easy to handle tool so that we can get to work in other areas in our daily lives, while looking good in the process.

Katie ~ I agree, it's fantastic to have a simple routine down pat so we can feel good & tackle the day ahead! :)

For all ~ please note this is NO LONGER my current skincare routine ~ I have changed my whole bathroom to be a toxin/chemical free zone after much research & reading into what is in our daily skincare/household products. I have made the swap from all above products to certified organic products that are actually benefitting my skin & health rather than hurting it. It's a big step & I just hope we can all learn a bit more about what is in our skincare & beauty products... it's so important...

I detail all this in more depth on my other blog ~ Make Bliss Happen ~ www.makeblisshappen.com
